Well yes people it happened to me , one day just sitting by the table I decided to check all my documents some were there in folders and some I had kept in different folders so that I can collate them all at once at a future date..well that day was today...and so it happened...
To my utter shock and surprise what do I find there is that my Engineering degree is nowhere to be found I looked the entire house that day from roof to floor nothing , it just vanished in thin air...
After reverting back to MBA and Engineering colleges when nothing happened I knew this was going to go big , it would consume me time and money in order to for me to get a Duplicate degree made but I said I need it in the future so I have to do it and so began my journey which I tagged it later as "LOST/MISPLACED" journey....
If any of you is studying in Harayan Colleges and that too engineering then you are bound to be affiliated with the 2 most biggest universities
1)Maharishi Dayanand University (M.D.U)
2)Kurukshetra University (K.U.)
Well I was luckily or unluckily a part of MDU . My Engineering college I.T.M or Insitute of Technology and Management is affiliated with MDU and so I had to go to Rohtak to get my duplicate degree made :-
Pre-requisites to a Duplicate Degree
- FIR :- Go to the local Police station and get an FIR made by the Police Hawaldaar or Local Thanedaar , in Delhi and NCR they charge somewhere from Rs.100 to Rs.300 so effectively we will take 300 as the charge for an FIR....
- Affidavit :-You need to go to the local court and get an Affidavit made on a 10 rupees stamp paper , a legal document stating your genuine-ness and that you will be liable to a court case if you are found misusing this degree....well this is just a legal tender or document for your case to be more profoud and professional
- Letter :- Make a letter addressing the registerar of the MDU University stating your various Roll numbers , your university roll number , your college roll number , your tenure of Engineering like in my case it was Start-2002 , End-2006.....your father and mother's name , your address current mailing and permanent , your mobile number/numbers , and thats about it . This letter will act as a background check for the person looking into your case...
FIR - Rs.300 + Affidavit - Rs.300 = Rs.600
Now after all that....
Journey to Rohtak
After completing all those formalities you need to personally and physically be going to MDU,Rohtak so that you can get your duplicate degree made..
Journey is not so comfortable since people on the Rohtak Road are maniac and a lot of times simply uneducated and lacking any civil sense...whatsoever...but being an Indian it doesent bother that much just to see soo much uneducation , poverty and ignorance of these villages is juat a shocker....well we somehow managed to reach the Univ. in just before lunch time...
You need to go there to the Administration block which I think is gate number 5(Gate no.5)
There you need to buy a Duplicate degree form which will set you back by a good 500 rupees , and you need to fill it just be sure that once you reach there you fill it as fast as you can as they have a big-big lunch time , they close the counter 30 minutes before and then reopen it 30 minutes later to the stipulated time....Well that just simply soo soo Indian and Harayanvi.. :-)
After filling it you need to go to the desired person inside the department or the 2 floor , there are managers assigned to various different colleges which look after all of these , ya you also need to get it signed by the registerar so that your documents and everything have been signed and attested properly...
After all that you need to wait a good 15 days to get your degree back.....duplicate degree that is....
Cost Total :- Rs.600 + Duplicate Degree Form-Rs.500 = Rs.1100
For me as I had a help from some known go-betweens or touts so I had to pay about Rs.250 extra so for me it became...
Final :- Rs.1100 + Rs.250 = Rs.1350
So now all of you know how to go about when you loose your Maharishi Dayanand University , Engineering or any other degree....

There is some update regarding the above post:
1.The admin block has been shifted to gate no 2 from gate no.( got new name also Pariksha bhavan)
2.You need to buy the form from information centre by paying 500 which is located near the gate no-1.
3.Now if are in Delhi, you register FIR online without going to police station, check delhi police website.
4.Amazing thing that university they did not ask anything like FIR and affidavit even though I have offered them as I have went full preparation.
5. After Filling the form, just go certificate section located at the first floor of the same building of R-III(for BTECH) and give the form there.
No Recipt will be provide you take th photo copy of the form.
They took my Degree zerox along with form and if you don't have degree copy don't panic your 8th semester marksheet will do the same.
After that wait for 15-20 days to get degree delivered at your home.
What would you do if your college/university lost your degree.
I am also a sufferer when the mdu rohtak autorities has sent my original marksheet to some other college and since eight months i am struggling to get it
Hello sir kya bina FIR ke duplicate degree mil jiegi is fir is necessary or not in MDU for duplicate degree certificate. Please reply soon I am also having the same problem
No need for FIR or Affidavit
Just buy a form of duplicate degree and attach a copy of final year dmc
Then submit in pariksha bhavan in mdu near gate no. 1
I filled the duplicate degree form but dont attach any marksheet and submit it to universty.. again i have to fill the form or they will dispatch without marksheet

Can i also get my 8 th seem DMC from mdu. Because i have to paid some money in college (fee). So that why they are not providing my 8th sem DMC..
